Here's my updated bio: Julien has been playing volleyball since he was 13 years old. During his club years, his teams consistently finished among the top three in the province. In high school, he was a member of the Team Ontario Indoor Team for one year and the Team Ontario Beach Team for three years. He was then recruited to play for the Windsor Lancers men's volleyball team, where he competed as a middle blocker for five seasons. In 2023, the Lancers achieved a historic milestone by finishing 2nd in the OUA for the first time in program history. That same year, Julien was selected to the Beach Next-Gen Summer Team, where he had the opportunity to train alongside some of Canada's top beach volleyball athletes. Following his time at Windsor, Julien joined the George Brown Huskies, where he played as a right-side hitter. He then transitioned into coaching and served as an Assistant Coach with the George Brown men's volleyball program the following season. As he enters his second season as Head Coach of Phoenix Ignite, Julien remains committed to helping athletes reach their full potential both on and off the court. His coaching philosophy emphasizes long-term athlete development, technical excellence, accountability, resilience, and fostering a positive team culture where every athlete can thrive. Julien regularly competes in beach volleyball tournaments across Canada and remains actively involved in the sport at both the playing and coaching levels. We are very fortunate to have him dedicate his time, experience, and passion to the Ignite team.
